How Do I Upload My Family Tree From Familysearch.com to Gedcom

How can I upload a GEDCOM file?

Ulrich Kohlstaedt

I am trying to upload a GEDCOM file (size about 9.5 MB) created by FamilyTree Maker 2019 to Family Search. The transfer didn't start and issued an fault notation: "Unable to upload files larger than 300 MB".

The last upload I did vi calendar month ago worked without any problems !

Is there a solution possible?

    FYI

    Welcome to the "Customs.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    But in passing ...

I have 'seen', a few posts of late, regarding bug/issues, regarding the "Upload", of GEDOM Files, in 'FamilySearch', that were UNDER the "File" Size LIMIT; as, in your case.

And, I am not certain that there was whatever particular commonality.

'Yes', the "File" Size of your GEDCOM File seems to exist well UNDER the size LIMIT ...

And, even, the suggested size beingness:

    • Nosotros recommend that you lot submit small GEDCOM files of no more than100 names. Afterward the upload, smaller files make the compare and copy procedure easier to manage.
    • If you intend to but preserve and share your file, it can contain upward to 100 MB.

    Now ...

    That Said ...

I have NOT used "FamilyTree Maker 2019" ...

I could be TOTALLY wrong here; and, I stand corrected, if I am incorrect ...

I notice, that "FamilyTree Maker 2019", DOES Not, appear to be, in the "Solutions Gallery", of 'FamilySearch.

I am not saying, adversely; but, perhaps, "FamilyTree Maker 2019", is not a "3rd Party" Application, that is "Certified" to piece of work, with "Family Tree", of 'FamilySearch'.

And, equally such, just thinking out aloud hither, perhaps, the GEDCOM Files, produced through "FamilyTree Maker 2019", are non compatible with 'FamilySearch' - simply a thought.

The same, is all speculation on my part.

Equally, it is ODD, that a GEDOM File, with such SMALL "File" Size, would be getting such an ERROR Bulletin.

Hither are a couple of "Knowledge Articles", in 'FamilySearch':

How should I set my GEDCOM file?

How do I upload my GEDCOM file?

    Proficient Luck.

    Only my thoughts.

I know, that this certainly may non assistance/assistance; only, I hope, that this may provide you lot with, some boosted, insight; and, perspective; plus, other avenues to pursue.

Cheers for sharing your experience. FamilySearch has been made aware of the problem with uploading GEDCOMS that you encountered recently and we are working to correct the problem. The North America team is aware of this concern and is trying to resolve the result but I believe more examples are needed. If you take screen shots of what you see when you try to upload your GEDCOM, that they could show useful.

While your account indicates you are in the United States, the .de domain for your email address would betoken otherwise. Since at that place is alive phone support in Germany and Switzerland at 00-800-1830-1830, if you are in that part of Europe, you might want to phone call FamilySearch back up team to report your business organisation there as well.

Nosotros are working to resolve this issue and then please cheque back from time to time.
